“Laughs for Lives” Comedy Shows

For the last four years, Laughs for Lives has been a comedy show hosted at Gwynedd-Mercy College benefiting Crusade for Care. Attendees have included students from Gwynedd-Mercy College, Temple University, Holy Family University, LaSalle University, the University of Pennsylvania, and many other local area residents. Special thanks to Brian Whalen and the Student Government Association of Gwynedd-Mercy College for hosting this event in 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012!

Flag Football Tournaments

In 2006 and 2007, Crusade for Care hosted flag football tournaments for high school students in Northeast Philadelphia. Teams represented schools such as Father Judge, Archbishop Ryan, North Catholic, St. Hubert’s, St. Basil’s Academy, and Nazareth Academy. In both 2006 and 2007, about 120 students participated.

Volunteer Spotlight

Brian Whalen is a senior at Gwynedd-Mercy College and an Executive Board Member at Crusade for Care. He has been an instrumental part of Crusade for Care since it was founded in 2006. Along with the Student Government Association at Gwynedd-Mercy, Brian has organized the Laughs for Lives comedy fundraisers for the last four years.

His grandmother, who was diagnosed with stomach cancer, continues to be his inspiration. Brian saw how much his grandmother appreciated the angel bear and prayer booklet that she received from the Pastoral Care team at Fox Chase Cancer Center. Since then, Brian has been inspired to spread these simple actions of care.
